During our tests, we observed that the iRobot S9+ cleaned thoroughly and efficiently a variety of floor surfaces including hard and medium-pile carpets. It also did well on vinyl, and laminate flooring. It also did a nice job of maneuvering around objects and furniture, however it had some issues with stairs, and can accidentally crash into things like bookcases.
We loved the feature that the S9 automatically returns to its base to empty its trash bin when it's full, which greatly reduces hands-on maintenance needs. The dust bag will last for about 30 loads or a month and half. You'll need to replace the filter on a regular basis (as recommended by iRobot). In our experience, the iRobot S9+ doesn't get very loud during operation, so it's a good option for those living with kids or pets.
Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

They're a great option for busy families, and are becoming more affordable than ever. If you want top-of-the-line features in your robotic cleaner, you'll have to spend a bit more.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid is an all-in-one vacuum and mopping machine which makes it a great option for those living in a flat with multiple floors. Dual motors provide it with impressive cleaning power and the 0.6l dust bin can hold a lot of pet hair. The dustbin is easily removed and emptied, which is great because you'll need to do this on a regular basis.
It's easy to set it up as well, but I do recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid before running it for the first time. Install the Eufy Home application and follow the directions to connect it to your WiFi network. The app will help you create a map of your house. Rooms can be named and divide rooms into sub-rooms (good for open plan living) and direct the X8 Hybrid to specific areas that require cleaning at a specific time. Eufy's application is more user-friendly and precise than other robots that have similar mapping and scanning functions.
The X8 Hybrid has a great feature: you can activate the mop or vacuum by voice thanks to the integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This is a wonderful feature that makes the robot more hands-free. It worked well in our test home.
The X8 Hybrid, like many robotic vacuums, has issues with flooring that is not clean. It is prone to miss pet hair and other small objects, and it is prone to hit things - such as its own charger at the base for charging. It's also not as quiet as other models we've tested, and the whirring noise can be distracting.
Roborock V3S pro
This model isn't as feature-rich as some of the more expensive models we evaluated, but it has all the basics. It has a big dust bin that can hold a lot of dirt before needing to be cleaned. The vacuum and mop system is great for both carpets with hard floors as well as carpets with a low pile. It's also quiet. We could watch TV while it cleaned without feeling like we were being overwhelmed by noise.
Our test participants were extremely pleased by how simple the machine was to operate and set up. They also loved the ability to clean all the mess from their floors. It also did a excellent job of removing pet hair and messes from carpeting, although it was not as effective in tackling stubborn stuck-on stains. They found the app easy to use and intuitive, and they were able to schedule the vacuum to clean regularly to cut down on the amount they had to manually do. It doesn't have the ability to avoid objects or map technology, which means it cannot be sent to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundaries can be used).
Another model from iRobot's low-cost line that is the V3S Pro has some impressive features for its price. It was the
best combo vacuum of all robotic vacuums in our tests in terms of mapping and avoiding obstacles, and it's the best budget option for those who want an intelligent self-emptying robot vacuum that is able to handle pet hair and messes on both carpets with low pile and hardwood floors. It's also super quiet and has a large dust bin that holds plenty of debris prior to when it's time to empty it and you don't have to worry about regularly emptying it.
The V3S Pro did not make it into our top choices lists of trusted sources who conduct hands-on tests, however it was praised by Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. The V3S Pro was simple to use and set up, but the battery life was short.
